Attention Parents

As many of you know, one of the indicators on our State Report Card is our building attendance percentage. As a building we must maintain a 93% daily attendance average. Our first priority is a quality education. We say time and time again, students who attend regularly will receive a better education. However, as a high school administrator along with my assistant principal and PBS committee, we are seeing a very noticeable decrease in attendance. We have too many “un-excused” absences, late arrivals and early releases.
After various attempts to remedy our most frequent offenders (letters, calls, mediation and incentives) we still see too many students “un-excused”. I ask that we work together and remember; talk to your child, call in when an absence is necessary, and bring a doctor’s note when applicable. Refrain from appointments that take your student out over a half a day and make sure they come back after being signed out.
Together we can make school a priority and reinforce responsibility and a quality education.

Thank You
Brent Carey
