WCS Parents and Students:
Please read this post AND the linked communication document carefully for detailed information about assigning grades for the fourth quarter.

You will note that it is the expectation that all students participate in learning activities. School staff members are making every effort to ensure that all students have access to learning during the final quarter of the year, whether that be via digital learning or paper packets.

Our fourth quarter goal is to ensure that every student has an opportunity to continue learning. We encourage you to reach out to a Principal or staff member if you know of any students who may need some assistance in getting started. They will see that the information gets to someone who can help.

(March 15, 2020 Update)

Options for March 16th pick-up!

We are happy to share that we have added another option for parents and students for tomorrow’s pick up of instructional resources.  We are offering curb-side service!

There will be someone at each building to greet you. We will radio in your student’s name and bring the materials right to your car window.

While our window for material pick-up is open for an extended period of time, we also know that some parents will need to make arrangements for another individual to pick up their student's packet.  If this is the case for you, the following options are available:

  • Send a note with your handwritten permission.

  • E-mail the building principal indicating your permission and who will pick it up. (See the email list below)

East End:

During this time, we will ask you about your access to the internet during the closure in order to plan for the possibility of the next wave of materials. A reminder that we are also offering the option of a sack student lunch between the hours of 12-2.

We are looking forward to seeing you sometime between 12-6 on Monday!

(March 13, 2020 Update)

March 16th from 12:00 - 6:00pm Learning Packets for Pick-Up

In response to Governor Mike Dewine’s announcement of Ohio schools’ closure through April 3, 2020,  the WCS staff has been diligently working to prepare instructional materials for all students. These materials will provide students the opportunity to continue their learning during the extended break.

For the first wave of materials, WCS has opted to provide hard copies for all families.

On Monday, March 16th, each WCS building will distribute materials to all parents and students between the hours of 12:00 and 6:00 PM.  Please plan to pick up your student’s materials during this time from the appropriate buildings.

As your child completes work from the packet, please keep it organized so that the student can return it to their teacher when school re-opens.

Student Materials, Personal Belongings, Medications, etc.

Students will also be able to pick up any necessary materials, medication, any other personal belongings they might need during this time.

Please frequently check the WCS district website, for updates regarding instructional materials during the school closure.  We will also continue to send updates via the One Call System.

Student Meals and Power Packs from 12:00-2:00

In addition to instructional materials, WCS will offer lunch free for any WCS student to pick up between the hours of 12:00-2:00 p.m on Monday, March 16th in every building.

We will also provide the Power Pack meals during Monday, March 16th at the Elementary Buildings for families registered for the program.

March 18th through April 3rd

Student Meals Pick-Up
Starting Wednesday, March 18th, we will be providing free lunch to our students every weekday while we are in a State School Closure.  Our plan at this time is to have several community locations for students to pick up a meal. We will be sending out details and locations to families by Monday.  Please stay tuned and continue to visit our website for updated information.

COVID 19 Update

We continue to monitor the coronavirus and are following guidance and direction from the Governor, CDC, State and Local Health Departments.  Governor DeWine announced that the state is NOT recommending the closure of K-12 schools at this time. School officials are working with staff to make contingency plans in the event we will need to close school.

Communication Plan

You will be notified by email, one-call system, website and social media in the event of a school closure.  Details will be shared regarding how we will handle school logistics shortly following any announcement of a school closure.

Extra School Events & Gatherings

The Governor reiterated today, his strong recommendations about no mass gatherings. He also alluded to some harsher measures in regard to “orders” about mass gatherings.  The science behind this is called “Social Distancing” and is a tool to reduce and slow the spread. The goal is to prevent overwhelming our infrastructure, as we have seen happen in other parts of the world.

WHS Parent/Teacher Conferences scheduled on March 11th will be held remotely.  This means that teachers will be present at school and available to speak with families on the phone.  Please email your child’s teacher directly to schedule a time to talk. The teachers will also take the time to reach out to parents by phone and email. Email addresses can be found at

WHS Theatre Performances scheduled will be restricted.   The performance will only be held on March 12th.  It is limited to only two tickets for the cast and crew to invite close family or friends.  Only those with the special ticket will be permitted to attend this special performance. All other performances will be canceled.   These guests may only attend if they are in good health.

  • If you are in an at-risk demographic (elderly, immunocompromised or have other health issues) for your protection, you should not attend.  If you live outside the Wilmington/Clinton County community you should not attend.

  • When in attendance, you should keep social distance.  Please refrain from hugging, hand-shaking, and physical contact.

All refunds will be made at a later date and information will be sent out regarding our refund plan.

Athletic Events.
We currently do not have any indoor athletic events scheduled to host.  We will communicate any restrictions or cancellations when necessary.

WMS Project Trust Camp starting on March 11th is cancelled.
We will do our best to reschedule this at a later date.

Music Concert Events that are scheduled from March 12th through March 29th are cancelled.

We are following Governor DeWine’s recommendations to severely limit spectators to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
