Being tardy to school or class, missing school for doctor or dentist appointments, staying home because you overslept and missed the bus - it may seem like a good excuse at the time, but it still adds up to missed hours/days of instruction, causing you to fall behind your peers. It's easier to keep up with classes and homework, than it is to catch up after an absence.
