Board Member Application Process

Posted on: August 25, 2020

The Wilmington City Schools Board of Education seeks applicants to fill the unexpired term of board member Steve Murphy.

The board will begin interviewing candidates soon and must name a replacement within 30 days.  The newly appointed member will serve until December 31, 2021. If the appointed member desires to continue serving, he or she must run in the next general election.

The Wilmington City School district was fortunate to have Steve Murphy serve as a dedicated and compassionate Board Member since 2002.  We are saddened by the loss of Mr. Murphy.  He was instrumental in the Alumni Field Project.  He was a strong advocate for the FFA program and he helped to bring programs like Pre-Engineering and Chromebook one-to-one to our schools.  He provided great leadership for the Wilmington City School District and we appreciate his years of service to the staff and students of WCS.

Those interested in serving on the Wilmington City School Board of Education should contact Kim DeWeese, Treasurer for an application or apply online here.

According to Ohio law, people serving on Ohio school boards must be at least 18 years old, district residents, and registered voters.

Mr. Beaugard, Vice-President, said the board will review all applicants and decide on the replacement at the Sept 9, 2020 meeting.  Please visit the Wilmington City Schools website for an application. Applications must be submitted to the treasurer by email, mail or dropping the application off at Central Office by Sept 1, 2020 at 4:00pm to be considered.
