Homecoming

We’re honoring traditions in new ways this year.  WHS will be recognizing Wilmington Homecoming the week of Sept 14th-18th.

From Spirit Week and Homecoming Court, to a rousing football game we’ll do our very best to help our WHS students and families celebrate this time honored tradition in memorable ways, while keeping everyone safe.

Here is the schedule of activities for Homecoming 2020:

Spirit Week - September 14th through 18th

  • Our WHS hallways will be decorated with Hurricane Spirit - we’ll provide a special Virtual Tour for our VEd and Laurel Oaks students.

  • All schools will find clever ways to show their Hurricane Pride by decorating their classroom doors and hallways.

  • VEd and Laurel Oaks students - Decorate your front door to show the neighborhood your Hurricane Spirit and share on twitter - remember to tag @WHSCane and #WHSHoco2020

  • We’ve challenged our local businesses to show their support with signage and Hurricane Spirit window decorations - honk when you see it to show your appreciation (or stop in to shop a little)

  • Join in the fun by dressing the part on Spirit Days:

    • Monday/Tuesday - Superhero Day
    • Thursday/Friday - Cane Pride Day

Homecoming Court

  • The WHS Homecoming Court will have their photos taken at the Courthouse on Wednesday

  • Our Homecoming Court presentation will be in the HS gym Wednesday 9/16 at 1:00. Only family members of homecoming court students will be able to attend. Each student on the court will have 5 tickets for family to attend.

  • Hoco Court presentation will be live streamed!

Chili Supper

  • Drive thru service on Hurricane Alley

  • All tickets will be pre-order, online or have a High School Band member pick up tickets for you.

Homecoming Game 9/18 - WHS vs New Richmond

  • Tickets will continue to be pre-sale, only to the family members of the football team, cheerleaders, and band members. Only those arriving with a pre-sale ticket in hand will be admitted to the game.

  • The game will be live streamed Campus Nation!

While we are unable to have a parade or a dance this year, we know that our community will find creative and safe ways to honor our school community and our Alumni.  After all, the biggest and most enduring traditions we are able to honor are our long standing traditions of taking care of each other and our community, celebrating our students, and having Hurricane Pride in everything we do. We are Hurricane Strong.
